MORE INTERVIEWS: AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am transcript archive THE MODERATOR: We'd like to welcome Tiger Woods into the interview room here at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Tiger, welcome back. Your first time at this event since 2002.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- In a lot of sports, a 36-year-old with an extensive amount of significant knee and Achilles injuries would at best be entering the twilight of his career. In golf, Tiger Woods is about to begin a second career.

MARANA, Ariz. -- One week remains for players to move into the top 64 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and solidify their position in the field for the 2012 World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship. This week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on the PGA TOUR and the European Tour's Omega Dubai Desert Classic are the final opportunities for players to punch their ticket to The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain, and the first World Golf Championships event of the season, February 20-26.

If you play the Yahoo! game, this is one of the more unusual weeks of the year. Not only does the cut fall after 54 holes (at low 60 and ties) but Monterey Peninsula Country Club plays to a par 70. Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill are par 72s.

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-am is the sixth event of the 2012 season. Here's how the PGATOUR.COM experts sized up the top contenders:

The PGA TOUR and Valero Energy Corporation announced today a six-year extension of Valero's sponsorship commitment to the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. The new deal takes effect in 2013 and runs through 2018.

At Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix on Monday, Kyle Stanley may as well have been a kid right out of college headed back to Bozeman, Mont., to his part-time job as a snowboard instructor.

While Tiger Woods' victory at last December's Chevron World Challenge ended a personal winless streak that spanned two years, he still hasn't won an official PGA TOUR event since the 2009 BMW Championship.

Pebble Beach Golf Links has served as the site for a series of unforgettable moments in golf. On the list was an improbable eagle at last year's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. There was an argument to be made that D.A. Points' hole-out from the fairway at the infamous par-5 14th hole in the final round was the shot of the year.

The changes kept a-comin' last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Now, the FedExCup standings feature two new players inside the top 10 (Ben Crane and Webb Simpson) and a brand new No. 1. More on him later, though.

Golf is a game about redemption as much as anything else. It's also one full of deja vu moments.

The Champions Tour season continues with the Allianz Championship (Feb. 10-12) at The Old Course at Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton, Fla. The purse is $1.8 million and the winner will receive $270,000 and 270 Charles Schwab Cup points. Last year, Tom Lehman won by a stroke over Rod Spittle and Jeff Sluman. Lehman went on to win two more times in 2011and was voted the Champions Tour Player of the Year.
